Trust Awarded Navajo Charter Mark
Lancashire Care NHS Trust has been awarded the Navajo charter mark in recognition of working towards a lesbian, gay and bisexual friendly service.
The Trust has received the award after developing their race equality scheme into an equality and diversity scheme. This ensures that the diversity of service users and staff is recognised and celebrated within the organisation.
An equality and diversity steering group chaired by Bryan Dalgleish - Warburton was set up to develop the scheme. Amongst other initiatives, a package to support gay, lesbian and bisexual people who are involved with the organisation was produced, sexual orientation is now included in the new equal opportunities policy and gay lesbian and bisexual support groups are also being developed.
Bryan Dalgleish - Warburton said: "I'm very pleased that the Trust has received this award. The Trust prides itself on treating everybody equally and the award is a reflection of this."
The award was also handed to other health care organisations, including the Strategic Health Authority and Chorley and South Ribble NHS Trust.
