Philip Thomas Curwen

Term of Office:

First Term: 09/12/2016 - 08/12/2019

Born and educated in Preston as were my children and siblings. I am long term resident of Fulwood with my last fifty years spent working in and around Preston, my early years in local engineering then the remainder in the business sector. My community Volunteering started in 1993 with Preston Samaritans where I remain a fully active member holding various roles both locally and regionally. Having spent fourteen years Volunteering with Drugline-Lancashire I currently hold a Trustee role within the organisation. For the past thirteen years I have volunteered with our own  ‘Wellbeing & Mental Health Helpline' where I still continue to play an active role both as a 'listener' and Volunteer Trainer. I am involved with the Lancashire-Constabulary Restorative Justice programme providing both Restorative Justice and mediation services throughout the County. Having worked within Lancashire in the business sector, Substance misuse services, Lancashire Police, our own Trust and the Voluntary sector for many years and going out within our Community in different roles, I have seen that greater collaboration of all the available services is needed to provide for the needs of Lancashire people in a more joined up way. As a Governor it is my hope that I may be able to inject some impetus for these links to be formed and developed into meaningful partnerships for the mutual benefit of all parties.

As a Lancastrian I am passionate about making a real and lasting difference in both physical and mental health within the Lancashire community, I believe my commitment and understanding of the local issues along with my pragmatic approach can go some way to make that difference.
