Dermatology in Blackburn with Darwen

The Nurse Led Dermatology Service provides information, advice and support on the management of eczema and psoriasis.

A full detailed history will be taken on your first visit and you may be asked to fill in a simple form to assist in this process. In order to assess your skin condition it may be necessary to carry out a skin assessment.

At some of the sessions you may have the opportunity to discuss health issues with other professionals such as a podiatrist. Please bring your current cream/ointment medication with you to the appointment.

Our philosophy
Within the philosophy of care, the specialist nurses aim to:

  • Provide a high standard of care for all those attending

  • Operate a partnership with GPs, practice nurses, community nurses, podiatrists, and local interface/specialist dermatology services in both primary and secondary care

  • Ensure each patient is treated as an individual and with dignity and respect in a confidential and relaxed environment

  • Offer evidence based treatment and advice, based on current research

  • Offer nurse led education clinics to provide practical tips on how to manage your skin condition and how to apply different treatments correctly

Our Partnership approach
Treatment aims are for patients and carers are to be able to self manage their condition, with support from the dermatology team. Effective dermatology management can only be achieved on a long term basis if you commit to continuing with your jointly agreed care plan.
