Eating Disorder Service

Lancashire Care provides an Eating Disorder Service in Central, East, North and West Lancashire. Please note that our website is currently under construction, and will hopefully go live in Spring 2018

Children and Young People’s Eating Disorder Service
Our services provide specialist community support for people under the age of 19. The team is multidisciplinary, including specialist nurses, psychologists/therapists, dietitians, and family therapists. We will work to support the young person and their families in a range of settings, including at home, at school/college, and in our clinics. We will also work closely with other teams and colleagues, e.g. Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), schools and colleges in order to ensure each service user receives the best package of care. 

The service provides an accessible service that operates between the hours of 09:00 to 17:00 on a Monday to Friday basis, however we will endeavor to provide earlier or later appointments if required. We accept referrals from all avenues, including self-referral. 

Adult Eating Disorder Service
We also provide specialist community support for people aged 19+. These appointments usually take place in our clinics, and are provided by a multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses, psychologists/therapists, dietitians, and family therapists. We will also work closely with other teams and colleagues, e.g. community mental health teams, in order to ensure each service user receives the best package of care. We have strong links with the local Universities throughout Lancashire.

West Lancs Eating Disorder Service

Working across Ormskirk, Skelmesdale and West Lancashire.

The service provides community support for people with complex presentations of eating disorder from age 16 upwards, and ensures smooth transition into the service from CAMHS for those approaching their 16th birthday.

The team is multidisciplinary, including specialist nurses, GP, clinical psychologists and dietician.  The team offers supported eating, psychological therapy and management of physical health issues associated with eating disorders.

Interventions provided include; Assessment; Care Planning, physical monitoring and nursing case management; Therapy 1:1 and groups and individual dietetics.

The team work closely with other teams and colleagues to ensure the patients who need the service are referred appropriately from the wider LCFT network. We have strong links with local schools, colleges and universities additionally throughout central Lancashire.

The service will accept referrals from GP’s, SPoA and other health professionals. We will also accept self-referral.
