Community Nutrition and Dietetics
We are all Registered Dietitians who are able to assess, diagnose and treat Diet and Nutrition problems at an individual and wider public health level. We are regulated by the Health Professions Council (HPC) and use the most up to date research and information which we translate into unbiased, practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. We work with a range of multi-disciplinary teams and social care professionals to provide advice and support for patients, their families and carers on a variety of Nutrition related problems including Nutrition Support, Home Enteral feeding, Diabetes, Weight Management, Nutritional Deficiencies and Gastro-intestinal problems, such as Coeliac Disease.
We can provide support in the following ways:
- 1:1 advice in Dietetic clinics
- Home visits for the housebound, frail, or those with a clinical need
- Visits to Nursing Homes and other Care settings
- Prison visits for inmates
- Input to Guild Lodge, Ribbleton and Longridge Hospitals
- Group education sessions for patients and carers
- Training sessions for other Health and Social Care Professionals and Voluntary workers
Dietitians accept referrals from a variety of sources including other health and social care professionals and providers which include:
- Nursing and Residential Homes
- General Practitioners (GPs)
- Practice Nurses
- Hospital Doctors
- District Nurses
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational Therapists

Dietetic clinics are offered at;
- Minerva Health Centre, Preston
- Various community clinics around the Preston, Chorley & South Ribble area
- Longridge Hospital
