Phlebotomy Service

The Phlebotomy Service is provided to enable patients in the Central Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen access to blood clinics when tests have been requested. The service also runs drop-in Anticoagulant clinics ,along with Enhanced needs and Paediatric Clinics that are appointment only.

Where the service is provided

Chorley & South Ribble Locality
Blood test clinics are provided within GP surgeries across the Chorley & South Ribble locality. Days and times of clinics are available from the surgery and all are run via an appointment system; appointments are booked directly with the surgery.

Anticoagulant Clinics for Chorley & South Ribble locality

Community anticoagulant clinics are run in several Community clinics (please follow this link for timetable). No appointment is necessary, service users can choose the clinic of their choice and a ticket system is available at each clinic, please note service users are requested to arrive at least 30 minutes before the end of each clinic session. Please ensure you have your Yellow Anticoagulant Book with you.

Chorley & South Ribble Hopsital offer Phlebotomy service as follows
CDH blood test clinic, located within outpatients: 0830-1630 Monday - Friday

Preston Locality
Drop-in clinics are available in Preston (please follow this link for timetable), no appointment is necessary, service users can choose the clinic of their choice and a ticket system is available at each clinic, please note that clinics can be very busy so service users are requested to arrive at least 30 minutes before the end of each clinic session. You must have a blood form with you when you attend to give to the Phlebotomist. 

Anticoagulant patients for Preston locality can attend any of the drop in clinics of their choice

Royal Preston Hospital offer Phlebotomy service as follows
RPH blood test clinic, located in the main entrance: 08.30am-5.00pm Monday - Friday for LTH bloods only, 5-7pm Thursdays only for GP bloods

Paediatric and Enhanced Needs Clinics for Chorley & South Ribble and Preston localities
These clinics are held on a weekly basis at Minerva HC and Chorley HC, they are by appointment only. Appointments are made directly with the Phlebotomy Team on 01772 644755. Children are seen in the Paediatric clinics from age 5 - 13 inclusive, discretion will be used for children older than 13. Children do not need to access the Paediatric Clinics but it is advisable. If parents / guardians choose to take a child to any other clinic provided the child  must be at least 5 years old. 

Blackburn with Darwen Locality
Patients must have a blood form from their GP, hospital request or from another professional; patients cannot self-refer. When patients have this blood form they can contact the preferred area and request an appointment. Urgent requests are seen the same day. 

We have two main health centres and four satellite surgeries where patients access treatment rooms. The treatment rooms allocate time for phlebotomy appointments, but other procedures also take place throughout the day.
