All women who register with midwifery antenatally will be offered an antenatal contact between 30-40 weeks by a named Health Visitor, this is completed at home and you are legally entitled to time of work for this appointment. It is an opportunity to help parents to explore their feeling around the pregnancy, think about their own experiences of being brought up, their expectations for their own children and any positive changes that they might want to make to improve their own health and well-being
From Bump to Birth and Beyond (BBB) is a free ante-natal course run in children's centres. The courses are designed for mums-to-be (whether with their first child or if they have had children before), partners, dads, carers and grandparents.
The BBB Courses are run by the Health Visitor, Midwife, and the Children's Centre staff who offer support and information to help you and your family prepare for the birth of your baby and parenthood.
The course will cover:
- Labour and birth
- What equipment you might need for your baby
- Changes to your routine
- Feeding your new baby
- Baby's development
- Keeping baby safe
Information about the professionals who will be involved after the baby is born e.g. midwife, health visitor.
Responding to your baby
From Bump to Birth and Beyond runs at children's centres across the county. It is recommended that you attend when you are around 28 weeks pregnant.
You can attend Bump to Birth and Beyond at your nearest children's centre or at any course running at a convenient time and location for you.
