    Memory Assessment Service

The Memory Assessment Services across Lancashire aim to deliver quick and timely diagnosis to people whose symptoms suggest that they may have dementia. They provide all patients who meet the referral criteria with a person-centred service, designed to empower people with dementia and their carers to make informed decisions about their care to help maximise quality of life. Involvement with the service should also help to reduce the risk of crisis later in the illness and enable the patient to be cared for at home for as long as is possible, whilst this is their preferred place of care.

    How to access this service

If you begin to notice or suspect that you may have problems with your memory then you should approach your GP in the first instance. Your GP will listen to your concerns and complete a short five minute test with you. Following this your GP should either be able to alleviate your concerns or will refer you to your local Memory Assessment Service for a more in-depth assessment.
