Make Smart Swaps towards a healthier future

Posted on the 27th January 2015

Healthcare professionals in East Lancashire are encouraging residents to make Smart Swaps in their diet and take the right steps towards a healthier future.

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Health Improvement Service provides healthy lifestyle advice and guidance on a range of topics working with individuals and groups including schools, community groups and workplaces. With the new year well and truly underway, many people will have made a resolution to start the year eating better and to exercise more. The team are encouraging people who want to make a change to their diet to sign up to Change4Life’s Smart Swaps and take small steps to a healthier 2015.

Kerry Place, Health Improvement Practitioner at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“Using Smart Swaps is a great way for people to make small, sustainable changes to their diet. The swaps are designed to help reduce fat and sugar from meals; for example swapping sugary drinks for water or milk, and snacks such as crisps and chocolate can be swapped for fruit and nuts. These small changes are suitable for the whole family, so everyone can join in. There’s lots of support and resources on their website together with recipe ideas and hints and tips on what you can swap.”

The Health Improvement Service work with partner organisations to provide excellent care and health advice to ensure the people of East Lancashire receive the very best advice and support for a healthier future.
