No need to lose Sleepio!

Posted on the 16th April 2015

The Mindsmatter Service, previously known as Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT), is launching a new ground-breaking online programme called Sleepio. The Trust is only the second in the country to use this 6 week course which uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to address ‘racing minds’ and helping people with poor sleep establish a healthy sleep pattern.

Emma Nazurally, Service Manager for Mindsmatter at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:

“A lack of sleep can cause issues for people including depression, increased stress and fatigue which can affect daily living, therefore it is important people address sleep problems sooner rather than later to help achieve better mental health and overall wellbeing. Sleepio will help people address the underlying causes of insomnia. With the help of the ‘Prof’, an online character who guides you through the programme, people will learn techniques and activities to break the cycle and help them achieve and maintain a good night’s sleep.”

The Trust is committed to using the latest technologies and innovation to improve services for patients and help them have a great experience of high quality care. The Sleepio programme aims to achieve just that and embodies elements of the Trust’s Five Year Plan to help achieve the overall vision of providing 21st century care with wellbeing at its heart.

Anyone interested in the programme can contact the team using the online self-referral form. The scheme is open to people of all ages and people must have access to a computer for the duration of the programme.
