Dry January

Posted on the 16th December 2015

Reducing your alcohol intake for 31 days in January will save you money, improve your health and could even improve your sleep, so sign up to Dry January today.

As celebrations for Christmas ramp up people can find themselves drinking much more than they normally would. Health professionals at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust are reminding residents that whilst the festive season can be a time for parties and meeting friends, drinking more than the recommended allowance can have damaging effects. The campaign, which is led by Alcohol Concern, attracted over 2 million people last year and looks to be even bigger this year.

Gareth Beck, Health Improvement Specialist from the Health Improvement Service said:

"Christmas is almost here and already hundreds of people across Lancashire have signed up to the Dry January campaign, so whether you"re going to take part with your colleagues, friends, family or alone, sign up today and see if you can stay tipple free for 31 days; you"ll save money, sleep better, lose weight and improve your own health and fitness. From now until the New Year you can track your drinking by using the MyDrinkaware dashboard and receive personalised tips and feedback to help you cut down your alcohol intake to safe limits."
