Local residents and carers are invited to a World Mental Health Day Celebration at The Harbour in Blackpool to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of mental health in the workplace.
Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, Blackpool Carers Centre and N-compass are joining forces to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2017. The day is for members of the public, carers and health professionals to network and find out more information on the types of mental health services available.
The event will be officially opened by The Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Ian Coleman and include a market place for Trust services and local organisations who will be offering information about the services they provide. The day will also include Mindfulness workshops, carer awareness sessions, physical activities, beauty therapy treatments, health checks, tea dance, refreshments and cake.
Dawn Kenyon, Quality Improvement and Experience Manager at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“We are really looking forward to the event and to be supporting World Mental Health Day 2017. The day is going to be all about raising awareness of mental health and providing local people with information about all the fantastic services that are out there to support. We have a number of activities and workshops taking place so we are looking for as many people in Lancashire to come along and get involved!”
Carla Talbott, Adult Carers Support Worker at Blackpool Carers Centre said:
“We have always been heavily involved with World Mental Health Day and this year we are looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic event at The Harbour in Blackpool.
“We will be encouraging carers and their families to come along to the event as well as our partnership agencies. It will be an opportunity for stakeholders to talk about their work and also to raise awareness of the reality of mental health”.
Kathleen Storton, Central and West Lancashire Service Manager at the Alzheimer’s Society said:
“We are looking forward to supporting the day and encourage everyone to come along and learn a bit more about how all the organisations can support you!"
Steve Varley, Carers Service Lead at ncompass said:
