Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Mindsmatter service will for the first time be attending the annual Leyland Health Mela on Saturday 14 October to offer free relaxation taster sessions.
The Leyland Health Mela, which is to be held on Saturday at Worden Academy in Leyland from 11am to 4pm, is to be attended by dozens of health services which will be providing visitors with advice on health-related topics.
Debra Bretherton, Care Group Manager at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“With World Mental Health Day earlier this week on 10 October, our Mindsmatter service is attending several events, including the Leyland Health Mela on Saturday where our Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners will be at hand to provide free taster sessions on relaxation techniques and psychoeducation. The Mindsmatter service operates throughout the year and offers a range of practical advice on how to deal with low mood, stress and anxiety. We also welcome invitations from organisations and employers to visit their staff within the workplace for both one-to-one and group sessions where our practitioners can offer some real life practical advice on how to relax and deal with common mental health issues. Our visits are free and at no cost.”
To coincide with World Mental Health Day this week, the Mindsmatter service will also be attending other events for members of the public at various locations in central Lancashire, including at the Macmillan’s Health & Wellbeing Event at Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club on Tuesday 17 October.
The Mindsmatter service, previously known as Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT), provides talking therapies for adults aged 16 and over who are experiencing common mental health issues such as depression, stress and anxiety. The service offers a variety of interventions and support, including stress management courses, supported online programmes, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and counselling. People concerned about their mental health can self-refer into the service by contacting their local team or by visiting their GP.
