Lancashire Care’s innovative partnership with Home Group shortlisted in the HSJ Awards 2018

Home View, an innovative partnership between Lancashire Care Foundation Trust and Home Group that supports people with mental health problems has been shortlisted for Best Clinical Support Service in the brand new HSJ Partnership Awards 2018.

The service has been shortlisted for its initiative in providing service users with supporting people at the right time. Home View is a 24 hours a day, supported housing service providing short-term accommodation for adults aged between 18-65 with mental health problems who have recently been discharged. The service supports those who no longer need clinical care in an inpatient setting but are unable to return to their home.

Steve Lewis, North Lancashire Service Manager at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the brand new HSJ Partnership Awards for Best Clinical Support Service. Our number one priority is to ensure that our service users are cared for in the most appropriate environment and by working with Homegroup we are ensuring that the people have a safe place to go when they are discharged from hospital.


“Home View is a unique service which is proving to be a great success in supporting people at supporting people in the area. We are really pleased and proud that this development has been recognised at national level!”

Rachael Byrne, Executive Director of New Models of Care at Home Group, said:

“We’re delighted that we’ve been recognised as a strategic partner with the NHS, for our Home View service. Patients are often ready for discharge from hospital, but not quite ready to go home, and this service helps to bridge that gap. 

“Our work with Lancashire Care Foundation Trust has responded to current needs in healthcare, and provided an invaluable service in helping patients rehabilitate.”


The step down service contains 12 self-contained flats allowing people to enjoy privacy for an average of 6 weeks and a maximum of 13 weeks. The service is available to those who are registered with a GP in the Blackpool area and who have an accommodation or support needs. The service aims to improves the care pathway and choices for individuals following a hospital discharge by providing the right care, at the right time by supporting them to access suitable accommodation and reintegrate back to independent living.

The winners will be announced at this year’s prestigious ceremony on 8 March 2018 at Royal College of Physicians in London. The awards look to recognise, celebrate and create a platform for the best products and services being used by the NHS.
